Our Curriculum

Westville Senior Primary prides itself on a high academic standard at all times, the goal is the wholesome development of all our learners. We believe there should be a fair balance between sports and academic and cultural fields and therefore encourage all our learners to take full advantage of what the school has to offer. Our holistic approach to teaching will ensure that in the process of implementing the CAPS Curriculum, learners will acquire the knowledge, skills and values that would equip them with the ability to make sound life choices. We prepare our learners to adapt to change in a rapidly evolving digital milieu. We acknowledge that learners perform at different levels and therefore we cater for the diverse needs of our learners so that they can attain their maximum potential.  We are confident that our children will develop into balanced, perceptive and reasonable individuals who will successfully cope with the expectations of high school, as well as the challenges of life.

For all parents, the education of their children is of the greatest importance and selecting the right school is not an easy task. The benefit of a sound education is one of the greatest gifts a parent can bestow upon a child. It will greatly influence the realization of their full potential and will enhance their chances of leading a successful life.

Westville Senior Primary has a proud history of offering a quality education to generations of boys and girls. Learners who leave this school face the challenges of high school with the skills and confidence to achieve a high level of success. This is illustrated by the large number of our learners who gain scholarships and entrance to both top-private and state-aided high schools, among whom we have an excellent reputation.

Our aim is to provide outstanding education through:

  • a demanding, yet supportive learning environment;
  • a relevant education for a changing South Africa;
  • a child-centred approach providing our children with the opportunities for personal growth;
  • a unique caring and friendly ethos;
  • a well-equipped, professional and dedicated teaching staff;
  • excellent facilities and technology;
  • class sizes allowing for individual attention;
  • innovative timetabling to maximize time spent on more specialized subjects;
  • a cost-effective education.

Specialisation in the learning areas of Art, Economic Management Sciences, Information Technology, isiZulu, Life Orientation, Media Centre, Music and Technology allows us to extend our children in further areas of interest beyond the traditional curriculum.

The services of a School Counsellor and a Remedial Specialist add to the value of the curriculum on offer.

Our co-curricular cultural and sport programme provide the opportunity for all of our children to develop themselves beyond the core academic disciplines. We place a high value on the holistic development of our children in diverse school activities. Whether it be enjoying the many vibrant cultural activities or participating in any of the sport codes on offer, all our children are expected to be actively involved in the life of the school.
